Update on City Aquatic & Arenas Rec Centre
It’s time for an update on the City Aquatic & Arenas Rec Centre.
This city facility is on schedule and is set for completion by the end of 2024 and opening in early 2025.
The facility was built with funding from a Federal green builds initiative. There are many sustainability features built into it. Here’s a link to the City of Prince Albert’s page on the Rec Centre featuring just some of the sustainability design elements:
Key Features – City of Prince Albert (citypa.ca)
The exterior of this new, huge facility is striking already. It will be a sports and leisure centre featuring a competitive lane pool, a wave pool, a waterslide, whirlpool and a lazy river. There will also be two NHL-sized hockey rinks with year round ice.
Prince Albert will be able to entertain its residents and visitors like never before. Our community will also be able to host a wide variety of hockey tournaments and ice based competitions like never before. This creates a whole new tourism draw to help our local businesses flourish.
When our businesses flourish, with attractions that draw people to our city, they have extra money. They give back to local community charities and programs to support the community that supports them. They often need to fill more jobs. More residents have more employment opportunities!
