Rec Centre and Event Centre are Two Different Buildings
The Rec Centre and Event Centre are two different buildings. One is almost completed. The other is ready and waiting to get the green light.
The Rec Centre
The Rec Centre is the city owned leisure facility that is being built right now. It’s the massive structure that’s nearing completion. You can see it towering when you drive down Marquis Road. The Rec Centre is also referred to as the Aquatic and Arenas Recreation Centre.

PA’s Rec Centre will have a lane swimming pool, wave pool, lazy river, hot tub and water slide. It will also have two NHL sized ice surfaces with year round ice. Imagine the families that will come to PA to splash and skate all year round. We’ll have a new source of local tourism.
Sometime in early 2025 when it’s completed, a business or organization will pay big money to the city in order to have naming rights. Businesses pay a lot for naming rights, especially on big buildings. They know that sponsorship like this is a great form of advertising. This increases revenues to the city.
THE EVENT CENTRE
As you know, the Rec Centre and Event Centre are two different buildings. Let’s talk about the Event Centre.
First off, the Event Centre is approved pending funding but not yet confirmed. The city is waiting on funding from the Feds. The Event Centre would have 4500 seats so we could host major events. We’d be able to draw international and national visitors and their tourism dollars to our city and our businesses like never before. PA would be able to host concerts and trade shows that we’ve never been eligible for. This is how we create a new stream of money flowing into our community and a new revenue stream for the city.

Right now, Prince Albert isn’t even considered for hosting national and international arts, entertainment, and sporting events. The other large cities in our province are, including Moose Jaw. Moose Jaw is smaller than PA. Our proposed Event Centre could help PA be attractive not just to international and national tourism but to the people who already live right here at home. It would be a source of community pride and would shine a positive light on PA in our province.
An Event Centre would bring income into city hall from guests from out of province and out of country. It would bring income into our community’s businesses so they can do well and stay open or even expand.
REC CENTRE AND EVENT CENTRE
A Rec Centre helps keep our local families and young people busy and happy and healthy.
A major Event Centre is an investment in our community that would generate never seen before national and international revenue opportunities for the city.
The Rec Centre and Event Centre are two different buildings but they are both important to the health and happiness of our entire city, our businesses and all of our people.
