World Environment Day and Our Rotary Trail

Today, let’s talk about World Environment Day and our Rotary Trail.    Prince Albert’s Rotary Trail is 23 km long.  The Families of Signature Developments helped create it.  They helped lengthen it.  Then they helped to complete it.

Our community’s Rotary Trail is just one of many major community projects that the Families have quietly contributed to over the past few decades.

Today, as we celebrate World Environment Day and our Rotary Trail, it’s a good day to reflect on the individual contributions each of us make to the environment.

The beauty of nature is important as habitat for many living creatures.  It’s also good for our physical and mental health to be out in natural surroundings.  There are places in the world where the great outdoors isn’t easily accessible.  Where many people live in concrete cities full of congested high rises.  Some of these places have doctors who actually prescribe ‘forest bathing’ for health conditions like anxiety or depression.

Here, we are lucky to have 23 km of beautiful natural surroundings that weave right through our city.  We can access the great outdoors so easily.

And we are even more lucky.  the families of Signature Developments take Prince Albert’s status as “Canada’s Most Park-filled City” very seriously.  They are going to expand the Rotary Trail park system right into The Yard entertainment & business district.  They’ll be expanding it by 2 km.  That means that PA will have nearly 10% more Rotary Trail than it does right now.   What a way to commemorate World Environment Day and our Rotary Trail!
