Here is some of the latest news in The Yard.

BUS STOPS READY TO GO

It’ll be easy for the whole city to play in The Yard.  The City’s bus stops are ready to go.  The bus stops are on the road that is just south of the land waiting for the proposed Event Centre.  That’s just south of the City’s Aquatic & Arenas Rec Centre that nearing completion right now.

LANDSCAPING 

The rock features have been put into the boulevards throughout The Yard.  The trees and shrubs have not.  Those must wait until all construction is done so they don’t get injured and need to be removed.  The rocks went in already because they help keep the dust down.  

ANOTHER HOTEL COMING

Another hotel will soon start building in The Yard.  This one will be further north and east of the new Holiday Inn Express.  The second hotel will be even closer to the Rec Centre and proposed Event Centre. This hotel will also have a liquor store that will leave its current liquor store location to move into The Yard.

RAINS

The precipitation helps avoid droughts for our farmers and fires in our forests. Rain makes everything very green and beautiful.  However, it makes building progress in The Yard very difficult.  Building has slowed in The Yard because of all of the standing water and wet earth.  

FIREHOUSE SUBS

There is a beautiful 6 bay building that is finished on the exterior.  It’s just north and west of the City’s Rec Centre.  One of the businesses going in has already put its sign up:  Sasktel Store.  Another business going in is Firehouse Subs:

This will be a great place for our young people and families and for our visitors to eat after a tournament or a concert or splashing about in the wave pool and lazy river!
