I had a radio chat with Lew about opportunities.  Lew Harrison and I talked about how opportunities can fix a lot in any community.

The partners have done many major civil engineering projects across Canada.  Designing and developing these huge projects have given them an ability to pull different industry puzzle pieces together and see a big picture.  This is why they were able to see the busy economic future that is coming for Prince Albert. 

The Yard is their way of doing something to make sure that busy economic future is a big success.  The partners want to create opportunities because, as Rusty likes to say, “Opportunities can fix a lot!”

FAMILIES AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Rusty, Gord, Kenny and Jayson believe that we need to keep young families busy and happy and healthy.  They also think that we need to keep our young people busy, happy and healthy also.  Young families and young people want optimism for their futures.  Lots of leisure and entertainment options does all of this.

WORKERS

Prince Albert needs to keep people here for the new jobs that are coming.  We also need to attract new people here for the same reason.  When we have lots of fun places to go and fun things to do, our community is more attractive to attract and retain these workers.

BUSINESSES

More businesses mean more revenues for the city.  Businesses want a community with lots of fun things to do and great places to go.  It gives them a better chance of attracting and retaining workers.  When a city is attractive to young families and young people, it becomes very attractive to businesses also!

HOW DO WE COMPETE?

Prince Albert needs all the big city amenities it can get so we can compete with bigger centers South of us for these young families and young people!
